Rachel Fontaine Morris was born in South Florida, but spent a significant number of years living abroad. Her experiences in Central America, North Africa, and in Spain give color and depth to her artwork, which is very personal and often narrative and conceptual. Most themes running through her artwork connect with the human experience – love, freedom, fear, loneliness, loss, hope, and beauty in brokenness. From a very early age, Rachel studied under and then was an apprentice of an artist/painter in Fort Lauderdale. Spending weekends and summers in an art studio forever impacted her, and she later went on to open her own art non-profit studio and gallery in Southern Spain. There, she spent three years bringing together artists in her community, teaching creative workshops and classes, and organizing arts events that celebrated local talent and culture. While curating the gallery, Arte 360, Rachel was able to involve local artists, dancers and musicians in collaborative cultural events. Rachel recently completed her Master’s degree in Art Education from Boston University.Rachel has exhibited in Fort Lauderdale, Southern Spain, and more recently Miami. She continues to create in addition to her job of teaching art and believes strongly that all students benefit from an appreciation of art and creativity.
