Melanie Sarria was born in Barranquilla, Colombia in 1992. Sarria works predominantly in the medium of sculpture. She also uses ordinary objects to create site-specific installations. Sarria completed an Associate in Arts with distinction at the Miami Dade College in 2012. She has had shows in Art Basel Miami in 2011. Her most recent work was showcased at the New World School of the Arts Gallery in January 2015. Sarria's work often explores the way ordinary objects can give meaning to the places we inhabit and our surroundings. Integrating elements of architecture, painting and sculpture, she transforms what we considered once to be familiar into something unfamiliar.
