VOICE:  BARITONE
At the age of 8 Joshua Henry Martin began his musical training under the instruction of Rebecca Yero a piano and voice instructor residing in the small town of Avon Park, Florida. Several years later he enrolled at Walker Memorial Academy and became heavily involved in various musical ensembles playing alto saxophone in the academy concert band, singing baritone parts in the choir, and men’s choir as well as playing in the academy hand-bell ensemble all under the direction of Leonard Cann, the academy’s director of music. After his high-school graduation in 2007 he enrolled in South Florida Community College and after a year of undergraduate studies Joshua transferred to Southern Adventist University to pursue a double major in the areas of Vocal Performance and Business Administration. Under the direction of Dr. Genevieve-Brown Kibble Joshua has spent nearly all of his undergraduate years honing and maturing vocal technique as well as touring overseas and across the eastern United States as a member of SAU’s select choir, I Cantori. Joshua has also been a member of the University men’s choir Die Meistersinger all throughout his enrollment at SAU. He has performed, on multiple occasions, as the featured vocalist with the SAU Jazz Ensemble and has consistently been involved in providing music for church services at the Collegedale Church as well as performing various genres of popular music at various venues and events in Florida and Tennessee. Joshua Hopes to further his education by pursuing a master’s degree in Jazz Studies in the fall of 2014.
