It has been a decade since Joey Basna first laid his teenage fingers on the Middle-Eastern darbuka drum, and from that moment forth, they have spent little time apart. With no musical education or background, Joey learned the ways of the drum by jamming with other musicians and participating at drum circles. That eventually led to a formation of a rock band which revolve around the darbuka instead of a traditional drum set. The band came and went, but the darbuka and Joey stayed together playing and performing for other bands, plays, gardens, and miscellaneous events across Miami.
